What is integrative psychiatry?
Integrative psychiatry combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment, including medication when appropriate, with nutrition, sleep optimization, movement, pharmacogenomic testing, supplements, and psychotherapy. It treats the whole person rather than a symptom list.
How is integrative psychiatry different from traditional psychiatry?
Traditional psychiatry visits are often 15–20 minutes focused on medication. Integrative psychiatry visits are longer, multidisciplinary, and address biology, lifestyle, relationships, and meaning alongside prescribing.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes. We prescribe when medication is clinically indicated, and we also help people safely reduce medications when appropriate. Prescribing is a tool, not the whole plan.
Do you take insurance?
We accept select insurance plans and offer private-pay options. Superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement. See Services & Fees.
What states do you see clients in?
New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and California. In-person visits are available in Greenwich, CT; all other visits are virtual.
What is pharmacogenomic testing and do I need it?
It's a cheek swab that analyzes how your body metabolizes psychiatric medications. Useful for people who have tried multiple medications without benefit or had strong side effects. See Pharmacogenomic Testing.
How do I know if I need therapy, psychiatry, or both?
We'll help you figure it out in the initial consultation. Many people benefit from both; many benefit from just one. There's no single answer.
Can I do integrative psychiatry without medication?
Yes. Many of our clients do. Medication is one tool among many.
What conditions do you treat?
Anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, burnout, insomnia, trauma/PTSD, life transitions, and women's mental health concerns (PMDD, perinatal, perimenopause).
What conditions don't you treat?
Acute psychiatric crises requiring inpatient care, active substance-use disorders requiring controlled-substance management, and pediatric care (we currently see adults only).
What is The 18-Day Reset?
A structured integrative program that resets sleep, mood, focus, and energy in 18 days. See The Reset for details.
Who is The Collective for?
Current Elevae clients and Reset alumni who want continued community and structure. See The Collective.
How long does it take to feel different?
Varies by condition. Sleep changes can produce effects in days. Medication often takes 4–6 weeks. Durable, multi-domain change typically takes 3–6 months of consistent work.
Is virtual psychiatry as effective as in-person?
For most presentations, yes. Clinical evidence shows equivalent outcomes. Some complex trauma or crisis situations benefit from in-person care.
Is my session HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. All telehealth sessions are conducted on HIPAA-compliant platforms. Please don't send confidential health information via email or text.
What's your cancellation policy?
24-hour notice is required. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
Do you treat children or teens?
No — we currently see adults only (18+).
What should I do in a mental health emergency?
Call 911, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency room. Elevae does not provide crisis or emergency care.
Can I switch to Elevae if I'm already on medication?
Yes. We often see clients who want a thorough review of their existing regimen or want to reduce medications responsibly.
How do I get a superbill?
Superbills are generated monthly and sent via the client portal. You submit them to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.
