Pharmacogenomic testing for smarter prescribing.
A simple cheek swab that analyzes genetic variations affecting how you metabolize common psychiatric medications — so we can choose the right drug and dose more precisely.
Why it matters
About 25–40% of people carry genetic variations that change how they metabolize common psychiatric medications. A fast metabolizer may need a higher dose or different drug. A slow metabolizer may have side effects at standard doses. Pharmacogenomic testing shortcuts the trial-and-error that typically accompanies starting SSRIs and other psychotropics.
When we order it
- You've tried two or more medications without clear benefit
- You've had unusually strong side effects to common psychiatric medications
- You want the data before starting
- You have a family history of medication sensitivities or non-response
How it works
A cheek swab kit is mailed to you or collected at your visit. Results typically return in 1–2 weeks. We review them together during a follow-up visit and integrate them into your treatment plan.
Who this is for
People starting or switching psychiatric medications who want more data than the standard "let's try this and see" approach.
Who this isn't for
People who have already found a medication that works well and aren't planning changes.
